Engineering Leadership Circle is an engineering leadership honor society at the University of Florida. Since 1971, ELC has recognized leadership and character while bringing students and alumni together around a shared commitment to the engineering profession.

Our mission

Recognize outstanding leadership. Unite engineering leaders. Support the college’s engineering societies.

Leadership, connected since 1971

ELC began in spring 1971, when UF student Thomas E. Wade and fellow engineering leaders worked with faculty to establish Epsilon Lambda Chi. The founding group was announced on May 20, 1971. Its purpose was to bring engineering leaders together and put their experience to work for the college.

Honoring the Past, Leading the Present, Forming the Future

ELC today

The Circle’s story continues through its members: students who bring their own disciplines, organizations, and leadership experiences to ELC. Its events create places for those experiences to be shared.
